Where is Khelo India?

After successful events under the Khelo India Schemes such as Khelo India Tribal Games (KITG) 2026, Khelo India Beach Games (KIBG) 2026 and Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG) 2026, now it is the time for the two most awaited sporting events in India - Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2026 and Khelo India University Games (KIUG) 2026 - but there is no news of them whatsoever.

The last edition of Youth Games was held at Bihar last year, in May 2025, and the University Games took place much later at Rajasthan, in December 2025. 

It has been more than a year since the last edition of KIYG, yet there is no news of when, or even where it will take place this year. Other events such as Asmita Leagues are been held timely for various sports under the Khelo India Scheme.

Now the question that arises is - Will there be Khelo India Youth Games and Khelo India University Games this year?

Even if the Khelo India University Games takes place later on in the year, there is a possibility that Youth Games won't take place this year, and instead they would be replaced by the newly proposed Khelo India School Games, which are supposed to be held in this academic year.

Whatever it is, the youth and sports ministry should disclose the news to the players and coaches as it will bring the anxious minds to peace, and let them know whether to practice or have their off-season.
